I have been wanting to get a boat for quite awhile. I’ve been looking at various options and I think I’ve found something rare on cl. A good bargain. Seems reasonably priced and decently well taken care of. I’ll be looking at it tonight.

Seems like it’s a well taken care of little boat. I’m personally not big on outboards. 70hp seems a touch small, but it’s a small boat and he says it’s got plenty of grunt and plenty of extras to go with it.

The two happiest days of a boat owner’s life: The day he buys the boat, and the day he sells the boat.

But I’m sure you’ve already heard that one.

I call bullshit on the “can easily get a 250lb skier out of the water” part...this thing has 70HP

Source: am 260lbs and have waterskied behind more powerful boats

70hp sounds kind of low, but it’s a small vessel anyway so should be fine. Looks to be in good shape.

Seems like NP as long as the children don’t come with it.

Seemed fishy to me too (ha! boat puns!)

I suppose it depends on what he plans to use the boat for though, if he’s never planning to tow anyone it may not matter.

Yeah, I’m not worried about pulling anyone that heavy out of the water. Plus 70 hp at sea level is not 70 hp at altitude. This is more for just having fun and getting out on the water.

I don’t plan on keeping it long, couple years maybe. I think 70 should be fine for a 16' for now. I’d like to think of this as a starter boat that won’t lose much value when it is time to move it down the line.

Children are worth a bunch on the black second hand market.

This is a good point.

1: Work them into the deal
2: ?
3: Profit and basically free boat!

My dad was 250lbs and we had a 75hp that would barely pull him up. It took so long, anyone weaker would not have got up.

I had a 4cyl i/o 130hp 18ft and it would pull up a skier so easy. Also pulled 3 tubers up. A buddy had a V6 and it would pull 4 tubes and 2 skiers.

I think it is. Some buffing of the gel coat and a thorough cleaning should have it shined up and ready for the summer.

I don’t know that it’s ever easy for a bigger person to get out of the water but a boat like this would drag you for a bit before it got going fast enough to get out of the water and yea it’s extremely hard and tiring to hang on while your still in the water. (side note: I’m so jealous when i watch light people pop out like they’re spring loaded)

It was pretty nuts tubing with 4 people. One guy was like jumping from tube to tube on our backs. Good times though, unless you were riding right on the wake, then it was non stop bashing.

hahaha, I think the most I’ve done is 3, great times though.

My dad has a nice powerful boat down in South Carolina now, I bet we could pull 4 easily.

23.5 foot Stingray with a 305 V8 in it. Easily broke 60 mph on smooth water one day.

...now to collect some tubes...

It’s a blast. Unless you get people on there that constantly fall off. If you get some people that can hang on, it’s even fun to watch. Make sure those ropes are all equal length!
